The recession of 2023: Is it a myth or a reality?

We find it useful to compare business cycles of the U.S. economy to different phases of volcanic activity — volcanoes erupt, eventually, because of the buildup of pressure; for the U.S. economy, the initial cause for a potential recession can be seen early in 2020 with an extremely loose fiscal policy and the subsequent monetary contraction by the Federal Reserve.
