Apple fire’s containment jumps to 80%

Containment of the Apple fire burning in the San Bernardino National Forest and Morongo Valley had jumped to 80% by Thursday morning, Aug. 13, with 33,424 acres burned. The jump in containment – the percentage of the fire’s perimeter where firefighters or nature have stopped the blaze’s spread – was 20% higher than the day before.
